There is a large pink dinosaur in my hometown

It’s right up the street from the mermaids. I started recording my own music in 2005, about 20 minutes east of those mermaids. Here is a link to the Wikipedia entry for 2005 to give you a feel for what was going on at the time: 2005. I had a strong sense, even then, that I was always going to want to fiddle with songs and recordings. I’ve spent considerable time since 2005 figuring out how to make recording music my life. If you’re reading this, there is a good chance you’ve experienced how hard it can be to build a life around your creative work.

This is me in my first “studio.” Some things that stand out: bag of Mike and Ike candy, small bust of Benjamin Franklin, flip phone, Presonus Firepod. I recall being obsessed with having as many inputs as possible even though I literally only ever recorded myself and DJ Hot Potato.

Pink Dino means a few things to me. First, it’s a vote that I am presently the person the guy in that photo thought I would be. Second, it’s a vote that I am in fact the guy in the photo. Third, it’s an opportunity to create some interesting items that might help other artists have more fun or embrace experimentation as they navigate their own creative journey.

Warmest Regards,
Jordan
